I am reading a book recommended by Pastor Jennie called "Beyond the Front Door" which asks the question, "Are you a front door church or a side door church?" I'm starting to think we're more of a side door church because of all the use our building gets throughout the week. We have so many ways to reach people beyond just Sunday morning.

One of the things that drives that congregation is that Pastor Jennie is out and about. She lives and works in her community. When she sees a need she responds to it, and as I understood she is at the grocery store, the library, the schools, etc. Wasn;t she approached by the need for english as a second language from some muslim women when she was at the library?

We hit a chord when we did the marriage enrichment. I agree substance abuse is rampant- and we do have AA already using our facility....The family needs support. I think people go to church to grow in their faith, to be a part of a community, and to feel like they can make a difference in the world. I also think that the Sunday worship is our biggest product but shouldn't be our only product. A person who is touched by the service and the people will come again but unless they get involved someway they might not become a member.
